about
This song was inspired by crying and feeling gross and oozing snot and mucus, but almost taking pride in being in that state. Feeling that way and talking about it made Mary think of a story she had read in Anne Carson's book, Copper Woman. It comes from the the Nuu-chah-nulth Nation on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. Mary shared the story with us, then we wrote a song about it. The story of Snot Boy & Copper Woman is amazing. You can and should check it out here: www.rahoorkhuit.net/goddess/goddess_quest/copper_women.html.
lyrics
Mending all these things.
Weaving all these things.
Mending all these things.
I am incomplete.
Standing here on my own two feet,
amongst the muck and fallen leaves,
but I’d rather be here with these things,
than lost chasing transcending.
You’re trying to transcend things,
tryna transcend things.
You’re trying to transcend things,
but you can’t see.
No more transcending.
No more transcending.
No more transcending.
Staying underneath.
The water, the waves and the water.
Spit and snot and sweat and blood,
all these things that you can’t have.
I keep them by my bed.
I keep them by my bed.
I keep them by my bed.
Who knows what happens then?
I am Snot Boy.
I am Snot Boy.
I am Snot Boy.
I am incomplete.
The water, the waves and the water.
Mud and mucus, where do they go?
They create the music in my soul.
I am Quolus.
I am Sappho.
I am H.D.
I am all these things.
The water, the waves and the water.
No more transcending.
No more transcending.
No more transcending.
Staying underneath.

Opener absolutely rips. Falls into the ranks of tracks like “Dance” by ESG, “Eisbaer” by Grauzone, “Damaged Goods” by Gang of Four or like the album description says Kleenex. This is some really good stuff. Favorite song is the opener but dedicate “Blue” to my friend Blue who lost her life at 22, she would have loved this album. TheBloodofChrist
